• Dr. Helen Mrose is the new director of the new Women's Imaging Center at Chesapeake Medical Imaging.
Mrose has more than 20 years experience in the field of breast imaging.
She earned her medical degree and doctorate from Yale University. She was director of breast imaging at the University of Maryland Medical Center and George Washington University.
The Women's Imaging Center in Annapolis provides all-digital mammography, breast magnetic-resonance imaging, ultrasound and bone-density studies.
• Peter Maller, Paul Wojcik and Emmett Guyton were recently appointed to the Baltimore Medical System's board of trustees.
Maller is a certified financial planner who has been given the "Top of the Table" honor by the Million Dollar Round Table. Lincoln Financial Advisors recently named Maller 2007's Planner of the Year.
Wojcik is a certified financial analyst with 13 years of experience. He works in T. Rowe Price's Quantitative Equity Group as the firm's vice president.
Guyton, who will serve as the community representative on the board, is a native of East Baltimore and has been a steam-fitter for 18 years.
BMS provides health care to 46,000 patients in Baltimore city and county.
• Time magazine has named Dr. Peter J. Pronovost of Johns Hopkins Medicine one of the world's most influential people of 2008. The list recognizes people "whose power, talent or moral example" is transforming the world.
Pronovost is a professor, anesthesiologist and critical care physician at the university's School of Medicine.
His research, which involves looking for ways to improve patient safety and care in such places as a hospital's intensive care unit, has led to initiatives adopted in Michigan, Rhode Island and New Jersey.
He is also the medical director at Hopkins' Center for Innovation in Quality Patient Care and a professor in health policy at its Bloomberg School of Public Health.
