DETROIT (AP)—Performances by Justin Verlander and Ryan Raburn on Sunday afternoon gave the Detroit Tigers at least one more game.
Raburn hit two home runs and Magglio Ordonez had a solo shot to lead slumping Detroit over the Chicago White Sox 5-3 at Comerica Park, assuring the Tigers of at least a tiebreaker for the AL Central Division championship.
The Tigers and Twins began the day tied for the division lead. The Twins are playing at home against Kansas City right now and hold a 7-1 in the contest.
If the two are still all even after the day, the Twins would host a one-game playoff Tuesday.
The Tigers won for only the third time in eight games.
