The Oakland A's forced a Game 5 in the American League Divisional Series, topping the Detroit Tigers 4-3 in game four on Wednesday at Oakland Coliseum.
It seemed like the Tigers would be advancing to their second straight ALCS and have a rested Justin Verlander for Game 1 when they took a 3-1 lead into the 9th inning behind a strong start from Max Scherzer and a home run from Prince Fielder.
But Oakland's Seth Smith hit a game-tying two-run double off closer Jose Valverde in the bottom of the 9th inning, and Coco Crisp finished the A's rally with a two-out RBI single.
Detroit will now try to take the ALDS in game five scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET Thursday in Oakland.
The game will air on TNT.
