BLOOMINGTON, Ill.—They came back champions in their two previous trips to the Final Four, but this time the Hope women's basketball team will have to settle for second place.
The Washington St. Louis Bears topped the Hope Flying Dutch for the NCAA Division III women's basketball national championship Saturday.
Alex Hoover scored 18 points and Jaimie McFarlin added 14 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Bears to a 65-59 win over the Flying Dutch.
Unity Christian alum Carrie Snikkers led all scorers with 22 points. She also grabbed 10 rebounds in the loss. Grandville's Philana Greene had 18 points in her final game with Hope.
The loss is just the second this season for the Flying Dutch. Hope ends the season 32-2 overall.
