VAN BUREN COUNTY—One driver died and the other was injured in a two-vehicle collision Saturday evening in Decatur Township.
At 3 p.m. Sunday, the Michigan State Police Paw Paw Post announced that at 5:50 p.m. Saturday, troopers responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident with injuries on Burgess Road just west of 39th Street in Van Buren County's Decatur Township.
The driver of the first vehicle was transported to a local hospital in Paw Paw and was later care flighted to Bronson Hospital where he was pronounced dead with massive head trauma and internal injuries.
The second driver was transported by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries to Bronson Hospital where that person was listed in fair condition Sunday.
A passenger in the second vehicle was not injured and was interviewed at the scene.
Troopers said it is not yet known whether alcohol was a factor in the collision.
An accident reconstructionist and investigator from the MSP Paw Paw Post were summoned to the scene to assist with the investigation. The accident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police, who said no names are being released at this time.
