BATTLE CREEK—The city of Battle Creek has canceled a Boil Water Advisory that had been in effect for parts of the city since Wednesday.
On Wednesday, a portion of the city's water system customers were advised of the need to boil all tap water used for drinking and cooking. The area involved in the Boil Water Advisory was as follows: * Vanarmon from Capital Avenue NE to Sharon Avenue. * Sharon Avenue from Vanarmon to Pitman Avenue. * Pitman Avenue from Sharon to Capital Avenue NE.
On Saturday afternoon, the city, in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said it had determined that it was no longer necessary to use bottled water or boil water before drinking or cooking. Follow-up sampling confirmed no coliform bacteria are present in the water supply.
