A boil water advisory is in effect for the following areas in Battle Creek:

*Jackson Street SW from Capital Avenue SW to McCamly Avenue SW

*Properties on the South side of Michigan Avenue from Capital Avenue SW to McCamly Ave.

As a precaution, the city of Battle Creek advises that you DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.

Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.

On Sunday around 4:15 p.m., Battle Creek shut off water to some customers on Jackson Street and Michigan Avenue to repair a water main Sunday afternoon.

Work will continue until the repairs are completed.  The city says the affected area may be expanded if it encounters unforeseen circumstances.
