EAST LANSING—Western Michigan Christian is headed back to the Class D State Finals.
The Warriors beat Covert 62-61 in Thursday's semifinals at the Breslin Center in East Lansing on Michigan State University's campus. The two-time defending state champions will now meet the winner of the Marine City Cardinal Mooney vs. Eben Junction Superior Central game.
Covert trailed by as much as 13 late in the third, but came close to victory late in the 4th. A missed layup by Covert sealed the semifinal victory for the Warriors.
2010 Class D Player of the Year, Evan Bruinsma, led WMC with 18 points and 13 rebounds.
