Indiana schools eligible for $10,000 health and wellness grant as a part of "Back to Football Friday" initiative

The "Back to Football Friday" school grant program is a part of the Colts and NFL's continued commitment to youth health and fitness through their PLAY 60 platform, which encourages youth to be active at least 60 minutes each day.

Indianapolis

The Indianapolis Colts are “Back to Football” and to commemorate the kickoff of the season, the NFL and the Indianapolis Colts are offering a $10,000 health and wellness grant for Indiana elementary and middle schools.

To be eligible for the grant, teachers and school administrators must visit this website to register their school. After registering, schools are asked to plan a “Back to Football Friday” celebration at their school to show their Colts pride and commitment to health and fitness. At the conclusion of their event, the school must submit photos of their celebration and answer two essay questions online no later than September 22, 2011. Once those materials have been submitted, the school will be entered to win a $10,000 grant to support health and wellness initiatives. A judging panel will then select one (1) school to receive the grant. Additional grants will be disbursed by the NFL in the other 31 team markets.

The “Back to Football Friday” school grant program is a part of the Colts and NFL’s continued commitment to youth health and fitness through their PLAY 60 platform, which encourages youth to be active at least 60 minutes each day. Locally, the Colts provide health and fitness programming to nearly 30,000 youth each year through initiatives that include Colts Fit Camps, Big Blue Football Camps, the PLAY 60 Challenge, Playground Build, Hispanic Heritage Month Football Camp and more.

Additional “Back to Football” Programs:

In addition to the “Back to Football Friday” health and fitness grant, the NFL is offering “Back to Football” contests and promotions for fans including an Extreme Cubicle Makeover Contest and a Super Fan Contest. Entrants in both contests are encouraged submit photos at www.backtofootball.org showing their NFL team pride and commitment to youth health and wellness. One (1) winner will be selected for each contest and will receive a trip to Super Bowl XLVI here in Indianapolis. Visit www.backtofootball.org for complete contest rules and guidelines.
