A 70-year-old Glendale woman remained in critical condition Wednesday after a refrigerated delivery truck struck her when she stepped off the curb on Central Avenue, police said.
Tonya Kisishvili had swelling in her brain and was in a coma at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center
, Glendale Police Sgt. Dennis Smith said.
“We are hoping for the best,” he said.
She stepped off the curb against a red light about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday as the truck, which was traveling south on Central, approached the intersection at California Avenue and struck her, police said.
Witnesses reported that Kisishvili didn’t look before entering the intersection, police said.
The truck driver, who wasn’t injured, immediately stopped at the scene and appeared “to be shaken up,” Smith said.-Veronica Rocha
