5 Northwestern players attend ESPYs, but Aaron Rodgers and Jared Cook nab 'Best Play' hardware

Sometimes “traveling” can be a good thing in basketball.

Five Northwestern hoopsters flew from Chicago to Los Angeles on Tuesday in hopes of collecting an ESPY award.

Vic Law, Scottie Lindsey, Bryant McIntosh and – of course – Dererk Pardon and Nate Taphorn made the trip. Northwestern’s buzzer-beater over Michigan is one of four finalists in the “Best Play” category.

But this time the Wildcats came up a bit short. The award went to Aaron Rodgers and Jared Cook of the Green Bay Packers.

ESPN’s Mike Greenberg was among those pushing for NU, tweeting of his alma mater: “These kids gave us the ride of a lifetime. Let’s give them an Espy. Vote now!”
