A woman was injured on Interstate 78 in Upper Macungie Township on Tuesday afternoon when her vehicle landed upside down after she hit two signs and a tree stump on the highway shoulder, police said.

Anissa J. Walker, 43, of Bushkill, Pike County, was eastbound on I-78 at 2:10 p.m. when her sport utility vehicle went off the road and crashed, state police at Fogelsville said.

Walker was at mile marker 49.3 when she ran into a PennDOT sign and a traffic-control sign at 65 mph and, 20 feet later, the tree stump, which caught her SUV's undercarriage, police said.

The car flipped into a fence and landed on its hood and windshield, police said.

Walker suffered moderate injuries in the crash and was taken by Kutztown Ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, where she was listed in good condition Wednesday night.

Police said Walker will be cited for failure to stay in her lane.
