HYATTSVILLE, Md. — One woman has been hospitalized with serious but apparently non-life threatening injuries after a freight train hit an SUV she was driving in Hyattsville.
APrince George's Countyfire official says the CSX train hit the SUV on Tuesday morning around 10 a.m. When firefighters arrived, the car was on its side next to the lead train and a woman was trapped inside the vehicle. Spokesman Mark Brady says she had "serious but what appear to be non-life threatening injuries."
A CSX spokesman says the train originated in Jacksonville, Fla., and was headed for New Jersey. It had three locomotives and 22 cars.
Hyattsville police say signal lights were flashing and bells ringing when the SUV crossed the train tracks. The train hit the back of the vehicle.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
