A 22-year-old man was found fatally shot inside a vehicle that had crashed into two others in East Baltimore Sunday night, one of three murders over the weekend in Baltimore.
Officers responded to a call of a shooting about 10:45 p.m. and found the victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in the 1400 block of Holbrook Street, just east of Greenmount Cemetery. The unidentified man was slumped over the steering wheel of his Mitsubishi Diamante, which had collided into a Nissan truck that was pushed into another vehicle. Police believe the shooting occurred prior to the collision.
The victim was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:24 p.m.
It was one of three fatal shootings recorded over the weekend in Baltimore, bringing the homicide total to 47 people killed this year, compared with 48 as of yesterday's date last year.
Earlier Sunday, a 33-year-old man was found suffering from gunshot wounds near Kirk Avenue and Fillmore Street around 6 p.m. and pronounced dead at Johns Hopkins Hospital around 6:40 p.m.
In that case, police said Robert Laney was standing next to his red Cadillac El Dorado with friends when an unknown suspect approached on foot from an alley behind them and walked up and shot Laney multiple times. The shooter fled back through the alley and remains at large, police said.
On Saturday, 37-year-old Jermaine Shuron was fatally shot at about 3 p.m. at the intersection of N. Calhoun and Gilmor streets in the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood. Shuron was shot in the head, and police were looking for two suspects.
