Kite surfer rescued off Kent Island

A kite surfer was rescued from off the coast of Kent Island Sunday.

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a kite surfer off of Kent Island on Sunday.

The kite surfer had let go of his kite and was attempting to swim to shore near Matapeake when a bystander saw him and reported it. The Coast Guard said it found the surfer and rescued him after a 45-foot Coast Guard response boat, Maryland Natural Resources Police, Queen Anne's County fire and Maryland State Police responded.

The surfer was evaluated by medics. The Coast Guard said he wasn't injured.
