Crews found heavy smoke in the store when they arrived and a fire in the rear of the building, said Capt. Bruce Schultz of the Fire Marshal's investigative services. The fire was under control in about 35 minutes, by 9:20 a.m. No injuries were reported.
A fire engine was involved in an accident while responding to the fire, but no injuries were reported, Schultz said. The truck was traveling west in an eastbound lane of East Joppa Road at Quentin Avenue to avoid stopped traffic when a woman driving a Toyota Camry attempted to make a left turn and hit the right side of the fire engine. The Camry driver was deemed at fault in the crash, but no citations were issued, police said.
Ten fire companies and 40 personnel were on the scene, Schultz said.
