One person was burned and a second was displaced in a fire Saturday night in a duplex in the Fullerton area of Baltimore County, fire officials said.

About 50 firefighters and rescue workers were called to the one-alarm fire in a home in the first block of Sipple Avenue at around 8:12 p.m., Baltimore County Fire Department Capt. Ross Cooke said Sunday.

One resident, a man, was taken from the residence to the University of Maryland Medical Center with burns to his face and hands. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Cooke said. The Red Cross offered help to the second person, who was burned out of his home, Cooke said. No firefighters were injured, he added.

The fire was brought under control in about a half hour, Cooke said, adding that the adjacent unit suffered smoke damage.

The cause of the blaze, which appeared to have started in the basement, remained under investigation, Cooke said.
