Baltimore County police have charged a 25-year-old Perry Hall man in a Jan. 22 fatal hit and run accident.

David Grayson French Jr. of the unit block of Sandstone Court turned himself in Tuesday and is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $500,000 bail.

Information from an anonymous caller helped police locate the vehicle French drove in the crash that resulted in the death of 68-year-old Beverly Moore. She was struck while crossing Seven Courts Drive near Lincolnshire Court in the suspect's neighborhood.

One vehicle had stopped to allow Moore to cross at about 7 p.m. But a second vehicle passed the first and struck the pedestrian. Witnesses said the driver failed to stop and turned west onto Joppa Road.

Investigators have since worked to identify the driver of the vehicle, which was found Feb. 1 in Harford County, and to obtain enough evidence to present to the grand jury.

French is charged with felony hit and run, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and alleges French "knew or reasonably should have known that the accident might result in death."

He is also charged with misdemeanor hit and run, which carries a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison, and a traffic citation for failing to control speed to avoid a collision, which carries a fine.
