The man who escaped police on New Year's Eve — after another man attacked police in a videotaped assault — has been arrested, according to court records.
Shershallan Bond-Brooks, 40, was taken into custody Thursday and faces multiple charges, including escaping arrest, assault and disorderly conduct.
Bond-Brooks lives in the 700 block of N. Milton Ave., near the intersection of Milton Avenue and East Monument Street, where his attempted arrest on Dec. 31 took place in the Milton-Montford neighborhood of East Baltimore.
The video shows two police officers trying to handcuff Bond-Brooks when another man, Manuel Imel, a 40-year-old with a last known address in West Baltimore, attacked one of the officers, tackling him to the ground.
The entire incident was videotaped by a bystander and posted on the Web. The Baltimore Police department brought the incident to the public's attention Jan. 4.
Imel was arrested and charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and obstructing and hindering a police officer. A warrant was issued for Bond-Brooks, who police say fled the scene.
