City police are investigating two killings that occurred Monday, including the death of a 37-year-old woman who was found beaten in her home in the Waltherson neighborhood of Northeast Baltimore, according to authorities.

Police identified the woman as Somchanh Sipayboun, who lived in the 5400 block of Hillburn Ave., just off Frankford Avenue. Det. Jeremy Silbert, a city police spokesman, said she suffered from trauma but a cause of death was pending a ruling from the medical examiner.

Few details were released about Sipayboun's death, including who found her. Silbert said police were called to the house about 2:45 p.m. Monday, and that Sipayboun was rushed to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 3:27 p.m.

Police had no information about whether the house had been broken into or what happened inside. Relatives could not be reached for comment. City land records show that she has lived in that house about nine years.

Police on Tuesday identified another victim from Monday, a man who was shot about 4 a.m. on Boarman Avenue in Northwest Baltimore. Police identified him as 19-year-old Willie Battle, with no last known address. Police said they responded to a call for a shooting and found him in the street. He died a short time later at Sinai Hospital.

Also on Tuesday, police added a case from a prior year to this year's homicide count. Silbert said Mark Day, 44, who was shot and wounded on Aug. 23, 2010, in the 1500 block of West North Ave. died March 14. The medical examiner ruled the cause of death a homicide from the shooting.

Police said they arrested a man in the shooting; the disposition of that case could not be learned Tuesday.
