A 47-year-old man died Sunday after he was stabbed near the corner of West Lombard Street and South Calhoun Street in Baltimore's Union Square neighborhood, according to city police.
Det. Kevin Brown said officers were called to the intersection around 3:10 p.m. Sunday and found a man with a stab wound to the leg. According to Brown, the victim was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he died of his wounds soon afterward.
Brown said the man's identity has not been released, pending notification of family. He said a preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was standing outdoors when he became involved in a "verbal dispute" with someone else. According to Brown, the dispute became physical and culminated in the stabbing.
Brown said no arrests have been made, and no information was available about the suspect as of 9 p.m. Sunday. He said city homicide detectives were investigating the incident and asked that anyone with information about it call the police department 410-396-2100. Information can be provided anonymously.
