Three city shootings leave one dead, one seriously wounded

One man was killed and another seriously wounded Monday afternoon in separate shootings, according to city police. A third man was shot Monday night.

A man was fatally shot around 5 p.m. near the intersection of Preston and Ensor streets in East Baltimore, according to Det. Nicole Monroe, a police spokeswoman. The victim's identity was being withheld pending notification of kin.

On Monday evening, a pool of blood marked the sidewalk in front of a tiny church where the victim was found. A woman pressed her way into the crime scene while police were there to learn whether the victim was a relative.

Earlier, around 1:30 p.m., another man was shot in the 1100 block of N. Stricker St. in West Baltimore. The victim was found in the street and taken for surgery to a local hospital, though police said that homicide detective had been assigned to investigate the case because of the severity of his injuries. The police spokeswoman described his condition Monday night as "very serious."

A third man was shot around 9 p.m. Monday night in the 800 block Cator Ave. in north Baltimore. The victim's condition was not available.

Police had no information to disclose on motives or suspects in the shootings, Monroe said.
