A 23-year-old man was seriously injured Tuesday, when he was shot and slashed in the Broadway East neighborhood.
Officers responded to shots fired about 2:30 p.m. and found the victim lying on the sidewalk in the 1400 block of North Milton Street, near East Hoffman Street. He had been shot in the back and had sustained lacerations to his face and forehead. He was conscious but could not move and is being treated at an area hospital, police said.
