Detectives investigate fatal a.m. shooting near W. Baltimore school

Baltimore homicide detectives were investigating a fatal shooting Thursday morning near Westside Elementary School, while two men were also shot in separate incidents on the city's east side Wednesday night.

The morning shooting was reported around 11:30, in the 2200 block of N. Fulton Ave. The victim, 46-year-old Guy Randall, was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Residents passing by the crime scene said word spread quickly that Randall was the victim. Robert Byrd, 45, said he went to school with Randall and said he was well-known and liked.

"I came up the street and they me told who it was; I took my hat off and shed a tear," Byrd said.

Police did not have a motive but noted that Randall was on probation for a 2009 drug conviction.

Police were also investigating two shootings reported Wednesday night. An unidentified man was in serious condition after being found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at 9:27 p.m. in the 1800 block of N. Caroline St., two blocks south of the Eastside District Court building in the Oliver neighborhood. He was being treated at an area hospital, police said, adding that the investigation continues.

At about 11:30 p.m., police were also notified of a shooting victim who admitted himself to a local hospital. Investigators determined the victim, a 19-year-old man, was shot at about an hour earlier in the 600 block of N. Highland Ave., in the Ellwood Park neighborhood of East Baltimore.
