Baltimore detectives were searching for a "person of interest" in the shooting of a woman in the South Baltimore neighborhood of Carrollton Ridge Thursday night, a police spokeswoman said.
Officers were first dispatched to the 300 block of Furrow Street, just east of the Westside Shopping Center, at 5:42 p.m. for a report of gunfire, said Detective Nicole Monroe, the spokeswoman.
A woman who had been shot was located and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Monroe said.
Detectives quickly discovered the name of a "person of interest" in the shooting — which they do not believe was "a random act of violence" — and began searching for that person in the area, Monroe said.
"They think that individual is somewhere in the area, so they have police presence down there poking around," Monroe said about 7 p.m.
No further information was immediately available.
