A man who was shot multiple times in the head in East Baltimore on Sunday night has died, according to police.

Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of North Central Avenue in the Johnston Square neighborhood about 7:50 p.m. for reports of gunfire, police said.

At that location, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds to the head, said Detective Donny Moses, a police spokesman.

The shooting occurred at the rear of the location, Moses said.

The man, who was not identified, was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital in grave condition, where he later died, Moses said.

Homicide detectives were notified and were investigating the shooting late Sunday, Moses said.

Police were looking for a black Lexus "seen fleeing the crime-scene area," Moses said.

No other information was immediately available.
