A man found shot Wednesday night along a stretch of road cutting through a sprawling West Baltimore park died shortly after arriving at a hospital, according to city police.
Few details were immediately available. Police said officer were called shortly after 9 p.m. to the 4700 block of Windsor Mill Road, roughly the dividing line between Gwynns Falls Park to the south and Leakin Park to the north.
The two-lane divided road winds through dense woods near the Gwynns Falls Trail and just east of the Carrie Murray Nature Center near Dickeyville. The park has historically been a known dumping ground for bodies, and police said Thursday morning they were not sure if the victim had been shot there.
But police did say the wounded man was alive when police showed up. He was rushed by ambulance to Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:38 p.m. Police said they have not yet identified the victim, and knew of no motive or suspect.
