West Baltimore shooting leaves man injured, police say

Baltimore city police are investigating an overnight shooting that left an adult male injured, officials said Saturday.

Police responded to the 1800 block of Baker Street at 12:01 a.m. to the report of a shooting, where they found a 26-year-old man shot in the lower back, according to a release from the department.

Officials said the victim told investigators that he was involved in a physical altercation with a suspect in the West Baltimore neighborhood, when the suspect pulled out a handgun. The victim was shot as he attempted to flee the suspect.

Police said that the victim is expected to survive, and detectives from the Western District are continuing to investigate this incident.

Officials also released more details in a Friday night shooting. Officers responded to the University Hospital, where a 23-year-old victim had reported being shot in the face.

According to police, the victim told investigators that he was involved in an altercation with an unknown man in the 2900 block of Arunah Avenue.

During the altercation, officials said, the suspect shot the victim and then fled from the scene.
