A 31-year-old man was shot and killed during a robbery Wednesday night inside his home in North Baltimore, according to city police.

Police said that just before 10 p.m., two armed men entered a home in the 2800 block of W. Garrison Ave. and demanded money from the victim and a second person. After assaulting the victim, the suspects began looking through the home, police said. When the victim began to fight back, he was shot in the face.

The victim, who has not been identified pending notification of relatives, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe the robbery was targeted. The shooting occurred inside a house in the Cylburn neighborhood, south of Sinai Hospital and not far from Pimlico Race Track, and is the first homicide in that neighborhood in more than three years, according to records.

On Thursday morning, no one answered the door at the home where the shooting occurred. A neighbor told a reporter he was too shaken to discuss the incident. "I've got kids, man," he said.
