Cabdriver shot, woman dead in separate incidents

A 57-year-old female cabdriver was shot in the chest early Saturday, in one of three separate shootings since Friday night, Baltimore police said.

Police believe the driver, who is in serious condition, was robbed by two women and a man in the 3100 block of Swann Drive at 3:25 a.m. after she picked the suspects up at an unknown location.

In an earlier incident, a woman who was shot in the head Friday in Baltimore's Harwood neighborhood has died, said police spokesman Sgt. Anthony Smith.

Smith said the unidentified woman died at Johns Hopkins Hospital at 10:37 p.m., about three hours after police found her lying in the street. Witnesses reported seeing a man running south on Guilford Avenue after the shooting. He was wearing a red and black jacket and a white hat, Smith said.

Smith said a 25-year-old man was shot in his face and lower back at 1:30 a.m. in the 300 block of N. Eutaw St. The victim is in stable condition.

In that case, police are searching for a black man, aged 16 to 22, who is 5-feet-7-inches tall and 140 pounds. The shooter was wearing glasses, a black face mark, a black hood, a shirt with three stripes on the sleeves and dark pants.

Smith said the motive in the shooting is unknown.
