Man dies of multiple gunshot wounds in East Baltimore

City police are investigating the death Thursday of a 36-year-old man found shot several times in the Oliver neighborhood of East Baltimore.

Officers found the victim at 7:56 p.m. He was unresponsive and lying on the sidewalk in front of a vacant house in the 1400 block of Holbrook St., near Greenmount Cemetery. He had sustained several wounds to the head and torso, police said. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he died at 8:50 p.m.

There sure are alot of people dying during this decrease in the crime rate! I guess someone neglected to tell Queen Marty how the number system works! Higher numbers of bodies means an INCREASE in the crime rate.

Perhaps the police want the drug buyers and sellers to continue this. Cameras would only lead to more hours of investigation and clearly they don't give a hoot....unless the shooter misses, and an innocent bystander is struck, say a child, in this blight of a neighborhood.

Oliver is definitely the most dangerous neighborhood for 2012. This particular southeast corner of Greenmount cemetery is very problematic. In this exact same location of th 1400 Holbrook, Justin Marasa was killed on April 8, 2012 and so did Sherard Houston on March 10th. Not 200 feet away on April 16 Ricardo Mabray was shot to death at the 1300 block of Aisquith Street. 300 feet away Greg Kearney was shot to death on East Preston on February 6th.

All these men have something in common, that is PCS-Not Marihuana charges in their criminal history. I'll make a leap here and say the 1400 block of Holbrook Street might be a haven for illegal drug purchases. What is also interesting about the 1400 block of Holbrook is that the police department has failed to place any police surveillance cameras at this intersection or any other intersection in this area of Oliver.

If these surveillance cameras are the great panacea the cops say they are then why haven't the police put the cameras in the most dangerous locations? How many more people need to die?
