Man, 41, injured by gunshot in city's Johnson Square area

A 41-year-old Baltimore County man was shot and seriously wounded in the Johnston Square neighborhood early Tuesday evening, police said.

Police said detectives have identified a person of interest. Police had earlier reported that the man was dead, but have since revised their account to say he was "gravely injured."

Officers responded to reports of gunshots at 5:20 p.m. in the 1100 block of Homewood Ave., near East Chase Street. Michael Anthony Allen, of the 8200 block of Laurel Dr. in Parkville had sustained at least one wound to his upper body, police said.

It was the sixth shooting in the Johnston Square neighborhood this year, according to police statistics. Gregory Kearney, 28, was shot and killed Feb. 6.
