Man shot while entering home on N. Charles Street dies

8:25 a.m. EDT, October 12, 2012

A 51-year-old man who was shot multiple times as he entered his North Baltimore home Thursday died at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

An unknown suspect approached Merv Douglas from behind at about 5:25 p.m. and fired several times, police said. Douglas, who lived in the 2300 block of N. Charles St. in Old Goucher, sustained wounds to his head and torso and died at 10:40 p.m.

Police have no motive and the investigation is continuing.

A man's life was violently taken from him. If I were the writer I'd investigate and report the results of my investigation to the public. That's what reporters do. Maybe this writer didn't have enough ink to fully report all the facts gleaned from the reporters investigation.

A check with Maryland case search indicates that the murder victim had several incidents with the law.

I believe that the motive for this senseless murder is contained in his file.

The headline "Man shot while entering home on N. Charles Street dies" makes it sound like a burglary suspect was killed. More poor writing by Sun reporters/editors.
