Double Happyness Travel an 'imminent hazard' to public safety

A bus company that served Baltimore has been shut down by federal transportation officials for being an "imminent hazard" to public safety.

Double Happyness Travel Inc., of Huntingdon Valley, Pa., was found in violation of regulations on driver fitness, drug and alcohol testing, unsafe driving and vehicle maintenance by inspectors for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The six inspections covered the period from June 24 to Nov. 18.

Double Happyness Travel operated 19 motor coaches that provided low-cost service between New York City and Baltimore, Wilmington, Del., and Albany, N.Y.

The proper name of the company is Charter Bus R Us and here is a link to their website: http://www.charterbusrus.com/ Someone needs to stop these people before someone dies!

I'll give you another one to investigate. Charter R Bus out of Virginia. They have drivers going 12 hours straight to the destination and driving straight back another 12 hours to the point of the original pickup. Had malfunctioning AC on a 97 degree day and it turned out the problem had existed for more than a month and had not been dealt with. They acted like it was a surprise to them but the driver let us know that the problem (and others) already existed. They chose not to refund $1 of the $3800 we spent even though my traveling party of 28 people were subjected to a 12 hour drive with no AC on a 97 degree day.

This company has serious problems and must not have the money necessary to keep their bus fleet in proper working order or to pay drivers to follow regulations.

I will be glad to share more information and give you my name and more details if you are interested.

Charter R Bus is another company who deserves to be shut down for not treating their customers fairly and not putting the proper value on the safety of their passengers.
