A 31-year-old Odenton man was arrested for impersonating a police officer Tuesday in the parking lot of a Buffalo Wild Wings in Annapolis.
Mark Eugene Elmer of the 500 block of Queen Anne Ave. asked four men and women to present identification and asked one to a take field sobriety test around 10:50 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of the restaurant in the 2300 block of Forest Drive in Annapolis, police said.
Elmer allegedly drove a Ford Explorer up to a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, displayed a badge, identified himself as an undercover detective with the Anne Arundel County Police Department and demanded they show him identification. Police said Elmer asked one of them to perform some field sobriety tests.
Elmer also approached a 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old man and asked for their identification. Both of those individuals drove away and called the police, authorities said.
He was also charged with disorderly conduct.
