An accident Sunday in the Hanover
area of Anne Arundel County
has resulted in the death of an unidentified pedestrian, police said.
Anne Arundel police said the man, dressed in dark clothing, was walking in the right eastbound lane of Dorsey Road, just west of the intersection with Ridge Road. The man was struck shortly before 8 p.m. by a Mazda sedan, driven by Matthew J. Lang, 26, of Harmans, who was not injured and who remained at the scene. The pedestrian was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Poor lighting, pedestrian error and possible intoxication on the part of the pedestrian contributed to the crash, police said. Confirmation of the man's identity will depend on a fingerprint analysis, police said Monday.
