A 30-year-old Annapolis man has been charged with attempted kidnapping in an incident Wednesday in the Bay Ridge neighborhood of the city.
William Ranaldo Brown Jr. also faces second-degree assault and attempted armed robbery charges. He is being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on $200,000 bond.
A 28-year-old woman told police the suspect displayed a handgun and grabbed her and her 2-year-old son at about 6 p.m. in the 900 block of Bay Ridge Avenue, near Chesapeake Avenue. He tried to force the mother and child to accompany him. When she yelled for help, the suspect fled, police said. Officers later located the suspect in the 1000 block of Madison Street and arrested him without incident.
