Anne Arundel County police are investigating a report that an employee in a coin shop in Glen Burnie
shot and killed an intruder Tuesday morning.
Officers responded to a 6:28 a.m. call Christmas morning at Arundel County Coin Shop in the 7400 block of Baltimore Annapolis
Boulevard and were met by an employee of the business, police said.
He told police that an intruder broke into the business while he was there, and during an altercation inside, the intruder was shot, police said. The intruder ran out of the building and collapsed, police said. Paramedics were called, and the man was pronounced dead, according to police.
Police identified the dead man as Byron Keith Phillips, 30, of Chester. The employee's name is not being released, and police indicated he is cooperating with police. It was not clear if the employee was an owner or manager.
No charges have been filed, police said. The investigation is continuing.
