Anne Arundel County Police arrested a Lothian man and charged him in connection with a multi-vehicle crash in Annapolis on Sunday in which an officer was struck.

Police located Leo Lamont Carroll about noon Monday and arrested him. He was later released on bail.

Police say Carroll was driving the Acura RL that caused a three-car accident on Aris T. Allen Boulevard about 9:17 p.m. Sunday. Carroll is being charged with multiple traffic-related violations, including failure to remain at the scene of an accident and failure to help injured motorists.

County police Cpl. Kevin Mont had stopped a vehicle in the left lane with his emergency lights flashing, police said. He got out to ask the driver to pull over to the right shoulder, and as he was walking back to his vehicle, a white Toyota Celica that had stopped behind the police vehicle was struck by a fast-moving Acura RL, witnesses told police.

Mont ran into a grass median to escape, but the Celica was projected across the median, striking Mont and pushing him into the opposing traffic lanes, police said.

Three people fled from the Acura on foot. Police located two of them soon after, identifying them Tuesday as James Christopher Wallace, 22, of Lothian, and Anthony Ablonczy, Sr., 26, of Prince Frederick. Neither was charged.
