Annapolis police arrest seven in prostitution sting

Annapolis police arrested seven people last week in a special operation to target suspects soliciting prostitutes, police said Monday.

Police had received numerous complaints about prostitution activity in the area of the 200 block of West St. Nearby residents told police they often see suspects solicit prostitutes on West Street near Southgate and Monticello avenues and drive to nearby residential streets to park and conduct sexual activity, Det. Amy Miguez said.

The suspects arrested Thursday were Annapolis residents Luis M. Chimborazo, 45; Sameer Raj Guru, 33; Domitelio Lara Ramos, 34; Dionisio Reyes Villa, 27; and Walter Antonio Rodriguez, 36; and John G. Savvas, 38, of Holiday, Fla.

The city court commissioner released all of the suspects except Savvas, who was released after posting a $300 bond.

A seventh suspect who police did not identify was also arrested but released after being transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center for an unrelated medical condition. Police issued the man a criminal summons.

In the operation, two female officers posed as prostitutes and arrested suspects asking for a specific sex act and offering money, Miguez said.
