A man was carjacked and assaulted in Annapolis
on Thursday morning, and his car was later found abandoned, said Annapolis police on Friday
Officials said that the victim was sitting in his car on the 700 block of Newtowne Drive at about 10:20 a.m., when two unknown males approached the vehicle, with one opening the passenger-side door and removing the keys from the ignition.
The victim tried to retrieve his keys and was hit in the face, police said, who said that the victim then ran toward nearby Juliana Circle in fear of his safety. The two men who carjacked the vehicle then drove toward the victim and attempted to run him over before departing Newtowne Drive, police said.
The victim's car was found abandoned about three hours later on Crystal Springs Road. Police said the carjackers are still at large.
