An Anne Arundel County Police officer was flown to Shock Trauma after being struck in a multi-vehicle accident on Aris T. Allen Boulevard Sunday night.

Cpl. Kevin Mont pulled over a vehicle about 9:17 p.m. near Riva Road, Annapolis, stopping in the left lane with his emergency lights flashing, police said. He got out to ask the driver to pull over to the right shoulder, and as he was walking back to his vehicle, a white Toyota Celica that had stopped behind the police vehicle was struck by a fast-moving Acura RL, witnesses told police.

Mont ran into a grass median to escape, but the Celica was projected across the median, striking Mont and pushing him into the opposing traffic lanes, police said.

Three occupants of the Acura fled on foot after the vehicle struck a second vehicle in the right lane and crashed into a guardrail, police said. Police found two of them soon after near the Regatta Bay apartment community on Housley Road. Police are looking for the driver, who faces several charges.

Mont is in serious but stable condition at Shock Trauma, police said.
