11 Md. firms make list of top-grossing black-owned companies

Eleven Maryland companies rank among the nation's top-grossing black-owned businesses, according to Black Enterprise magazine.

Baltimore-based Brown Capital Management LLC ranked eighth in the asset managers category. Profit Investments of Silver Spring came in 14th in that category.

The 40th annual list included Harbor Bancshares Corp. of Baltimore, which operates The Harbor Bank of Maryland and was 11th in its category. Private equity firms included Syncom Venture Partners of Silver Spring, which ranked ninth in the category, and RLJ Equity Partners LLC of Bethesda, which ranked 11th.

Businesses in the industrial/service category included Lanham-based Radio One Inc., 1 Source Consulting Inc. of Germantown, Health Resources Inc. of Owings Mills, Silver Spring-based TV One LLC, K. Neal International Trucks Inc. of Hyattsville, and Systems Application and Technologies Inc. of Largo.
