Senator Theatre closed for months of renovations: The historic Senator Theatre closed Thursday to begin renovations, said an operator of the movie house, which opened on York Road in 1939. The theater will be closed for six to nine months, said James "Buzz" Cusack.
Orioles sweep Blue Jays: Thursday night, against a lineup known to feast on left-handed pitching, Brian Matusz recorded his first quality start since the final week of the 2010 season and the Orioles hit a pair of pivotal eighth-inning homers in a 5-2 win.

Sister's ex-boyfriend charged with murder in Phylicia Barnes case: Michael Maurice Johnson was the last person to see Phylicia Barnes alive in late December 2010. Now Baltimore prosecutors have charged him in the death of Barnes, whose nude body was found floating in the Susquehanna River one year ago this month.
