Howard County PTA holds anti-bullying forum: More than 100 parents and students gathered at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia on Thursday night to learn about how to prevent of cyberbullying and hear details of the Howard County public schools' anti-bullying policy.

Senator Theatre closed for months of renovations: The historic Senator Theatre closed Thursday to begin renovations, said an operator of the movie house, which opened on York Road in 1939. The theater will be closed for six to nine months, said James "Buzz" Cusack.

Orioles sweep Blue Jays: Thursday night, against a lineup known to feast on left-handed pitching, Brian Matusz recorded his first quality start since the final week of the 2010 season and the Orioles hit a pair of pivotal eighth-inning homers in a 5-2 win.

Ravens trade out of first round: After waiting several hours and seeing a number of their potential first-round targets still on the board, the Ravens decided that their best move was to fall back. Sister's ex-boyfriend charged with murder in Phylicia Barnes case: Michael Maurice Johnson was the last person to see Phylicia Barnes alive in late December 2010. Now Baltimore prosecutors have charged him in the death of Barnes, whose nude body was found floating in the Susquehanna River one year ago this month.

As school facilities crumble, executive suites get remodeled: New furniture, a flat-screen television, decorative light fixtures, interactive white boards -- these are among amenities the city school system bought during $500,000 in renovations to the central office, even as administrators decried the state of crumbling school buildings and sought funding to fix them.
