A fatal crash on the Capital Beltway in Montgomery County is slowing traffic during the morning commute, authorities said.

One person was killed when a car and a tractor-trailer collided about 3 a.m. Friday on the inner loop near Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase, police said. The accident caused the car to catch fire.

At 6:30 a.m., two lanes of the beltway remained closed and the on- and off-ramps at Connecticut Avenue were also blocked.
