Joan Rivers played the Hippodrome on Friday night. Rivers apparently wanted a Maryland crab cake before the show. And, after some back-channel communications, it came to pass that the Prime Rib delivered a crab cake dinner, along with a floral arrangement and a bottle of red wine, to Joan Rivers' dressing room before the show.
I know for a fact that Joan Rivers is a nice person because my neighbor Cookie Hymer told me so. Cookie was a manager at the Painters Mill Music Fair, and when Joan Rivers played there ca. 1973, Cookie baby-sat for Melissa when Joan was onstage.
Speaking of the Prime Rib, right now is a good time to drop in. From Sunday, March 25 to May 5, the restaurant is offering 15 ounces of prime rib for $15.95. The offer is good on Sundays through Thursdays.
And what did Joan Rivers think about the crab cake dinner? "She loved it," said Baltimore public relations executive Amy Elias, who met the comedian backstage after the show.
