Tatyana McFadden

24, Paralympic wheelchair racer As the youngest person on the U.S. Track and Field team at the 2004 Athens Paralympics, Tatyana McFadden surprised spectators by winning a silver medal in the 100m and a bronze in the 200m. The Clarksville native hasn't slowed down since. She kept rolling, eventually winning gold -- three of them -- last summer at the London Paralympics. She has moved on to long-distance racing and won a string of marathons in Chicago, New York, and most recently, the Boston Marathon. The roar of crowds helped her over notorious "Heartbreak Hill," she told The Sun: "Having their support really got me through it." -- Colleen N. Thomas
