PINE RIDGE, S.D. (AP) — Ten student-athletes at a school on a South Dakota Indian reservation will get the chance to play at a professional arena when they scrimmage during the halftime of the Denver Nuggets game.
The students from Red Cloud Indian School on the Pine Ridge reservation will scrimmage one another between halves when the Nuggets take on the Sacramento Kings Saturday night at 7 p.m.
This is the third year athletes from Red Cloud have been invited to scrimmage during a game.
Lisa Johnson is the executive director of Basketball Administration. She says she invited the students to participate to recognize the students' perseverance and excellence in the classroom.
