Passengers waited in an airplane Sunday at the Aberdeen airport as grounds personnel were contacted and made their way to the airport when a SkyWest flight from Minneapolis came into Aberdeen at an irregular time Sunday evening.
SkyWest Airlines does business as Delta Airlines between Aberdeen and Minneapolis.
"Delta apologizes for the inconvenience to customers on Delta Connection flight 7635 on June 30," a statement said. "The aircraft was held for a short time on the tarmac before being parked at the gate."
The flight departed Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport at 7:15 p.m. and was scheduled to land in Aberdeen at 8:25 p.m.
SkyWest offers two flights into Aberdeen from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
Generally, there are outbound flights at 6:20 a.m. and 3 p.m., and flights are scheduled to come in from the Twin Cities at 2:26 p.m. and 10:56 p.m.
Delta customers are notified of schedule changes, said Michael Thomas, a Delta spokesman.
"Operational punctuality is a key priority for Delta, and steps have been taken to prevent this isolated case at the Aberdeen airport," reads the statement.
Aberdeen Regional Airport Manager Mike Wilson said Delta leases space from the airport and that he had no further information on the Sunday flight.
