Jim Hamburge, president of the Aberdeen Catholic School System, has resigned.
The development was announced at an Aberdeen Catholic School System School Board meeting Wednesday.
The Roncalli community was notified through the SchoolReach messaging system.
Hamburge was named president of the Aberdeen Catholic School System in summer 2011. A native of St. Paul, Minn., he has worked in Catholic education for more than 42 years.
According to a release, the board is developing a temporary administrative plan for the school.
In the written statement, board President Rick Kline said Hamburge and the board had differences, but that Hamburge's decision to resign surprised the board.
"It’s difficult to receive a decision like this in the middle of the school year, but we have great confidence in our administrators, staff, students and families," he said in the statement. "This has been a great school year, and we know it will continue to be."
